  • Build and refine graph data models, including nodes, edges, relationships, and properties, in line with business needs.
  • Review, tune, and optimize queries written in Cypher, Gremlin, or SPARQL to improve performance and resource usage.
  • Handle core database lifecycle tasks such as installation, upgrades, patching, backup, and recovery.
  • Investigate and resolve performance issues, slow queries, query errors, and system-level faults to minimize downtime.
  • Apply access controls, security measures, and data governance practices to protect the platform and its data.
  • Connect graph databases with APIs, ETL/data pipelines, streaming systems, and related upstream/downstream applications.
  • Collaborate with application teams, data engineers, and business stakeholders to enable graph-based solutions.
  • Maintain monitoring, alerting, and capacity planning practices to detect and prevent issues proactively.

Required experience and skills

  • Practical administration experience with at least one graph database, preferably Neo4j or an equivalent platform.
  • Strong command of graph query languages such as Cypher and Gremlin, with exposure to SPARQL as well.
  • Solid understanding of Linux and Unix administration in deployment and troubleshooting scenarios.
  • Experience in graph data modeling using nodes, relationships, and properties.
  • Ability to troubleshoot slow queries and improve database performance.
  • Knowledge of backup, restore, recovery, and high availability concepts.
  • Familiarity with data ingestion from relational sources and streaming systems into graph databases.
  • Working knowledge of basic scripting using Shell or Python.
  • Understanding of data warehouse concepts and database administration practices.
