Role overview
This is a 12-month fixed-term administration opportunity based in Ashburton, Canterbury. The role supports grain trading activity behind the scenes by keeping administration accurate, timely, and well coordinated, while also helping to deliver a positive customer experience. You will work with the Grain Trading Manager and the broader team to handle day-to-day coordination, contracts, records, and reporting.
The position is part of PGG Wrightson Seeds, which operates within the global seed cooperative DLF. The business supports New Zealand, Australia, and international markets across the full seed value chain, from research and development through to production, supply, and on-farm support. Key duties
- Support grain operations administration, including processing transactions, coordinating logistics, monitoring inventory, and preparing reports.
- Draft, process, and manage grain contracts, making sure all paperwork is complete, accurate, and properly controlled.
- Keep business systems and databases up to date with precise records, including contract information and sample data.
- Handle customer enquiries in a professional manner, follow through on outstanding issues, and help ensure matters are resolved.
What we are looking for
- Previous experience in an administration position, with confidence using databases and business software.
- Strong focus on detail and accuracy, with the ability to balance several priorities in a busy environment.
- Clear written and spoken communication skills, along with a polished and customer-oriented approach.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel.
- An organised, proactive person who can stay effective when workloads are pressured.
