Job description
About the role
Bending Spoons is focused on building a long-lasting, high-performing company that improves and operates digital products for the long term. The organization keeps hierarchy light, works in compact and highly capable teams, and blends AI into everyday work so that human judgment and machine intelligence complement one another.
This opportunity is aimed at a motivated, collaborative person who wants strong learning, meaningful ownership, and rapid career growth. The role emphasizes shipping reliable software, using AI effectively, and contributing to products used by millions of people.
What you'll do
- Create AI-driven product features in partnership with product teams, identifying opportunities where AI can significantly improve the customer experience and turning them into production-ready solutions.
- Use modern AI tools throughout development, including planning, coding, testing, and documentation, to improve speed without compromising quality, reliability, or maintainability.
- Work across a wide variety of technologies and systems, selecting the right tools for each problem and owning solutions end to end.
- Contribute to software that reaches large audiences and evolve it into scalable, production-grade products.
- Continuously reduce unnecessary complexity by improving architectures, pipelines, and codebases so they become easier to scale and maintain.
What the company is looking for
- Strong analytical and reasoning skills, with the ability to break down difficult problems, think from first principles, and pay attention to important details.
- High drive and ambition, paired with initiative, responsibility, persistence, and consistently high personal standards.
- A cooperative team mindset: willingness to support others, choose the best idea over personal preference, and work transparently and reliably.
- Comfortable proficiency in English, including reading, writing, and speaking.
What is offered
- Small, highly capable, entrepreneurial teams with substantial autonomy.
- A strong growth environment where high-potential people are placed in roles where they can thrive and take on major responsibility quickly.
- Flexible working arrangements, remote work, unlimited support for learning and training, strong health coverage, relocation support, generous parental benefits, and an annual retreat in a scenic location.
- Flexible start timing and the option to begin part-time, then move to full-time while finishing the degree.
- Competitive compensation with access to company equity for permanent roles, plus potential tax advantages if relocating to Italy.
Commitment and contract
The role can be offered on a permanent or fixed-term basis and is full-time overall. Part-time participation may be possible at the beginning, with a later transition to full-time.
Location
Primary locations include Milan, London, Madrid, and Warsaw, and the role can also be performed fully remotely from eligible countries. During the first few months, the expectation is to spend most days in the Milan office to build momentum, learn the culture, and establish trust with the team, with travel and accommodation support provided.
Selection process and additional notes
The hiring process is designed to identify strong signals of excellence rather than follow shortcuts based on seniority. Applicants may be asked to complete one or more demanding tests, which can take several hours and may include unfamiliar problems.
Applications are reviewed through the company’s careers page only. The employer also notes that roles may stay open for a long time or be reposted multiple times while the team searches for the right fit.
Reasonable accommodations are available for candidates with disabilities. If you have applied before and were not selected, it is recommended to wait at least one year before applying again.
The company describes the environment as demanding and highly ambitious, with significant commitment expected in exchange for strong learning and growth. Candidates who feel excited by that challenge are encouraged to apply.
