Job description
Role overview
This position is for a seasoned General Manager to lead operations for a construction and engineering business in the Caribbean. The role carries end-to-end accountability for project delivery, construction activity, and equipment services across a sizable operational setting.
The successful candidate will ensure that multiple projects are planned and executed effectively, while maintaining strong operational control, profitability, safety compliance, and consistently high standards of delivery. This is a leadership role that works across executive management, project teams, consultants, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to keep work on schedule, within budget, and aligned with industry expectations.
Key duties
You will direct the company’s portfolio of construction and engineering projects and ensure performance across safety, quality, cost, schedule, and overall operations. In addition, you will guide equipment planning and utilization, support maintenance coordination, and help improve efficiency across the business.
The role also involves leading project managers, contractors, and operational staff; reviewing project finances, forecasts, and reporting; handling contract administration; and assisting with dispute resolution when necessary. A further part of the job is to identify process improvements, support growth initiatives, and maintain compliance with health, safety, and industry requirements.
Qualifications and experience
A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related field is required. A postgraduate qualification in Business Administration, Engineering, or a similar discipline would be an advantage.
The employer is looking for someone with at least 15 years of experience in engineering, construction management, and project operations, together with proven leadership in large construction or infrastructure environments. Strong working knowledge of project management, contract administration, and engineering practices is essential, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office and tools such as MS Project.

This is an executive-level opportunity with a well-established organization. It offers responsibility for large-scale, high-impact operations and projects, along with exposure to strategic planning and business growth work. The environment is fast-moving and dynamic, with long-term growth potential and a competitive executive compensation package.
