Job description
About the organisation
Biloela Hospital is a busy 24-bed rural health facility serving the Banana community. The site brings together a broad mix of care, including emergency treatment, surgery, palliative care, paediatrics, maternity services, and allied health support, all delivered close to home.
In addition to ward-based services, the hospital also supports Banana Community Health through community and virtual health programs, visiting specialist clinics, local partnerships, and a range of healthcare initiatives. This makes the hospital an important local hub where community connection and quality care go hand in hand.
About the role
This position focuses on keeping the hospital grounds, gardens, and outdoor areas safe, tidy, and visually welcoming. You will contribute to the smooth running of the site through a mix of grounds maintenance, support duties, and practical day-to-day tasks.
- Maintain lawns, gardens, and external areas to a high standard.
- Carry out waste handling, porterage support, vehicle cleaning, and other minor maintenance activities.
- Use, care for, and check gardening tools, machinery, and hospital vehicles, reporting faults or concerns promptly.
- Work closely with other staff members, communicating professionally and taking part in training and development as required.
About you
The ideal applicant brings practical experience in gardening, grounds care, maintenance, or another hands-on role, or has the willingness to build these skills quickly in a healthcare setting. Relevant certifications or qualifications are welcomed but not essential.
You should be dependable, proactive, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team. Good communication skills, basic computer skills, and the ability to build positive working relationships are important.
This role also requires the physical ability to complete manual tasks safely, along with a strong commitment to workplace health and safety, service quality, and a respectful, inclusive environment.
Pay and benefits
The total remuneration package is valued at up to $77,671 per year and includes an hourly rate of $32.18 to $34.33, plus 12.75% employer superannuation and 17.5% leave loading.
- Ongoing professional development and education opportunities
- Flexible work-life balance and variety
- Salary sacrificing options
- Paid parental leave
- Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
- Discounted private health insurance
- Fitness Passport
How to apply
