This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a studio with a strong footprint in both mobile and indie PC/console publishing.
The business is expanding and is looking for a Game Scout to join the PC and Console Publishing team. The position is intended for candidates based in New Zealand or Australia.
In this role, you will help uncover, assess, and secure promising PC and console games for publication. You will also help build dependable relationships with game developers and contribute to profitability and growth.
Responsibilities
- Use deep game knowledge, market research, and industry experience to spot strong PC and console titles with publishing potential.
- Review and assess games that are sourced or submitted as part of the internal evaluation and due diligence process.
- Oversee and support Publishing Scouts and Publishing Evangelists.
- Develop, expand, and maintain a broad developer contact network to strengthen industry connections.
- Track market movement continuously so the team can respond to new opportunities and refine scouting and publishing approaches.
- Share important publishing recommendations and market insights with the Head of PC and Console Publishing when needed.
- Regularly play games and study competitor products to better understand what leads to success in the PC and console market.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent background, in video game scouting, business development, or a closely related area.
- Strong written and verbal communication, along with the ability to collaborate well in a team setting.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, CRM systems, and networking practices.
- Demonstrated success in closing deals and attracting business from competitors.
- Solid understanding of industry legal basics and how mutually beneficial agreements are structured.
- Willingness to travel internationally for gaming industry events.
- Well-established network within the games industry across New Zealand and Australia.
