Job description
Role overview
Join Jovie’s flexible on-call childcare team as a backup nanny, supporting multiple families with in-home care. This position is suited to people with experience in babysitting, daycare, nanny work, or church nursery volunteering, as well as retired teachers or other education professionals who prefer a smaller setting. It is also a good fit for candidates who want work that can be scheduled around school, family responsibilities, or another part-time job.
The role focuses on providing safe, engaging care for children from infancy through the toddler years, with especially high demand for care for children under 2 years old.
What the role involves
- Provide in-home care for children without being responsible for transporting them.
- Keep the child’s environment tidy only to the extent needed after meals or activities you lead.
- Support families needing care for infants and toddlers, with the greatest need for children under age 2.
- Create safe, age-appropriate, hands-on activities based on the children’s developmental stage and your observations.
Pay and benefits
- Compensation is $23 to $26.50 per hour.
- Paid training is provided, along with a nanny kit containing age-appropriate games and activities for assignments.
- There are growth opportunities in childcare, including priority consideration for families seeking a long-term full-time or part-time nanny.
- Paid sick time is available for both part-time and full-time schedules.
- Full-time employees may receive benefits such as a medical stipend, paid vacation, paid holidays, student loan repayment matching funds, or retirement savings matching funds.
- Additional earning opportunities may include mileage stipends, performance bonuses for positive feedback, and contests or team gatherings for connection and support.
- This is legal W-2 employment, including unemployment insurance and resume-building experience.
Who should apply
This opportunity is open to people who are at least 18 years old and have experience working with children, whether paid or unpaid. Infant care experience is required. Candidates should have reliable transportation, be willing to travel to different homes in the area, and be available for at least three weekdays each week for 6 to 8 hour shifts between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Strong communication, responsiveness, and a warm, positive attitude are expected.
