Job description
Overview
This role is responsible for keeping firearm records complete and accurate at the retail location, including the receipt, transfer, and disposition of firearms in line with federal legal requirements. The position also focuses on customer service, store compliance, inventory control, and secure handling of all firearms-related items.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver a high standard of customer service and help create a smooth, positive shopping experience.
- Keep firearms organized across all store areas, including the Gun Counter, Fine Gun Room, Gunsmith department, and all storage locations.
- Prepare firearm sales paperwork accurately and in full.
- Manage access to and from the Gun Vault.
- Verify that all required federal firearm transfer approvals are in place before releasing any firearm to a customer.
- Receive, secure, ship, and transfer firearms as needed.
- Log incoming firearms and/or black powder using A&D logbooks and the electronic A&D system, and confirm item details against receiving documents.
- Maintain firearms-related advertisements.
- Carry out monthly firearms audits.
- Support training for store associates when requested by the General Manager or OPS Support Regional Manager.
- Contact customers by phone, certified mail, or email to correct firearm transfer information when needed to maintain compliance with federal legal requirements.
- Follow all company policies and procedures.
- Keep the work area clean, orderly, and safe.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Experience with inventory control processes is preferred.
- Prior knowledge of firearms and related handling practices is preferred.
- Must stay current on federal firearms laws and regulations.
- Basic computer skills and math ability are required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are needed.
- Must be organized and attentive to detail.
Compensation and benefits
The starting pay rate for this position is $20.00 to $22.75 per hour.
