Job description
About the Role
Julius Baer is looking for a careful and detail-focused KYC specialist to support Private Banking relationship managers. In this position, you will help prepare and maintain complete, accurate Know Your Customer records and client due diligence files in line with local regulations and the bank’s internal standards.
You will work side by side with relationship managers to gather and verify client information, prepare detailed KYC write-ups including source of wealth and risk assessment summaries, and help ensure that private banking clients are onboarded and reviewed to a high standard. This is a practical, hands-on role for someone who is methodical, structured, and familiar with private banking client profiles.
KYC Review and Quality Management
- Partner with relationship managers to build full KYC files and supporting narratives for onboarding, periodic reviews, and trigger events.
- Prepare clear source of wealth and source of funds summaries, with solid rationale, plausibility checks, and traceable evidence.
- Assess client structures such as individuals, companies, trusts, and foundations, and confirm that the paperwork is complete and aligned with local rules.
- Make sure all KYC records satisfy internal quality and compliance requirements before they are submitted for review and approval.
- Guide relationship managers on client due diligence expectations and the types of documents that are acceptable.
- Coordinate with relationship managers to resolve questions raised by Compliance or uplift teams.
- Raise possible AML issues or missing documentation to Compliance or the relevant control teams.
- Support process enhancements and share knowledge with the onboarding and KYC team.
Profile and Requirements
The ideal candidate brings strong analytical and conceptual thinking, solid problem-solving ability, and good interpersonal skills, along with flexibility and adaptability in changing situations. You should also have a strong ethical mindset and the confidence to handle difficult scenarios consistently and professionally.
From a professional standpoint, a university degree or equivalent education in Banking and/or Finance is required. You should have at least 5 years of experience in KYC/CDD, AML compliance, or financial crime remediation, including large-scale remediation or uplift initiatives. You will need the ability to engage with senior stakeholders, build trusted working relationships, provide well-reasoned opinions, and propose practical solutions.
Technical strengths should include knowledge of KYC risk assessment, corroboration of source of wealth and source of funds, and financial crime compliance standards. Strong people skills are also important, including the ability to set priorities and manage tasks effectively.
Additional Information
Julius Baer values the individual strengths each person brings and aims to foster an environment where people can be impactful, entrepreneurial, empowered, and able to create value beyond wealth.
Applications are expected to be submitted through the company’s online application tool. The company also notes that additional career opportunities can be explored via its career site, and candidates may create an account to set up job alerts if this role is not the right fit.
