This is a full-time, on-site opportunity in Baton Rouge, Louisiana for someone who enjoys practical, hands-on work and wants to contribute to a school community each day. The position centers on preparing and serving meals for students and staff while keeping the kitchen and serving spaces safe, organized, and welcoming.

What you'll do
- Prepare and portion meals in line with recipes, production records, and food safety rules.
- Serve breakfast, lunch, or other meals to students, staff, and visitors in a courteous way.
- Keep the kitchen, serving areas, and overall workspace clean and sanitary.
- Restock serving stations, salad bars, and milk coolers as needed.
- Handle food storage, rotation, and sanitation procedures correctly.
- Help receive deliveries, put supplies away, and keep inventory organized.
- Sweep, mop, remove trash, and support general cleaning tasks.
- Follow all local, state, federal, and company health and safety requirements.
- Assist coworkers, cover shifts when needed, and support the kitchen team where required.
- Complete reports and meet assigned deadlines.
- Take on other duties that help the meal program run smoothly.
What we're looking for
Applicants should have a strong work ethic and be comfortable working closely with others in a school setting. The job involves repeated tasks, regular routines, and consistent attention to cleanliness and service standards. Prior food service or cleaning experience is helpful but not required.
Basic math and computer skills are needed. Candidates must be able to pass a background check and fingerprint screening, have reliable transportation, and be comfortable working around children. A respectful, professional, and inclusive approach toward coworkers and customers is important.
Physical demands and schedule
This position requires standing for an entire shift and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds. Regular bending, reaching, walking, and frequent use of the hands are part of the work. The environment can be busy, with moderate kitchen noise and steady movement.
The schedule is full-time, Monday through Friday, with occasional longer weeks. Participation in company events or meetings may also be required.
