Role overview

BAM UK & Ireland is hiring an FM Quantity Surveyor to work from its Kill, Kildare head office. The wider facilities management operation covers a long-term portfolio of 25-year PPP contracts, along with projects across education, commercial, and retail settings. This position offers the chance to build a lasting career in facilities management with room to grow within the commercial team.

Working arrangement

The company follows a flexible work model. The position combines remote working with attendance at BAM offices, and occasional travel to project sites may be required.

Key duties

The Quantity Surveyor will support monthly cost reporting, tender administration, small works coordination, and procurement activity. The role also involves working closely with internal teams, clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.

Responsibilities

  • Gather monthly cost and revenue information for inclusion in monthly reports.
  • Check completed works against revenue and reflect the outcomes in reports.
  • Prepare and issue tender documents to subcontractors.
  • Assess and compare tender returns from subcontractors.
  • Produce orders and monitor contract renewal timelines.
  • Frequently review subcontractor packages and pricing, updating them as needed.
  • Carry out cost reviews for existing and upcoming work packages.
  • Spot opportunities to reduce costs and improve operational efficiency.
  • Prepare quotations covering capital, operational, and lifecycle costs, then track progress and keep the operations team and client informed.
  • Maintain records for completion, sign-off, and invoicing of works.
  • Compile packages for specialist subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Evaluate and compare tender submissions from subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Provide subcontract and subcontractor information when needed.
  • Resolve invoicing and subcontract-related queries.
  • Support the procurement of products and subcontractor services.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Project Management, or a related subject.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a comparable role.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office; experience with COINS software is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
