Job summary
Mirfa International Power & Water Company (MIPCO) in Mirfa, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates is looking for a Fireman to support emergency response and safety operations. The position reports to the Lead Fireman and focuses on protecting people, property, and the environment through firefighting, rescue support, first aid, emergency readiness, fire prevention, and upkeep of fire protection equipment and systems.
Health, safety & environment
- Follow all applicable safety, environmental, and quality procedures.
- Assist with permit-to-work controls, including hot work permits.
- Encourage safe work habits and help spot potential hazards in the workplace.
- Record and escalate incidents, near misses, and environmental issues.
- Help ensure compliance with company policies and legal obligations.
Fire and rescue operations
- Act promptly in response to fires, accidents, spills, floods, and other emergency situations.
- Use firefighting gear, breathing apparatus, and rescue tools as required.
- Provide first aid and lifesaving assistance when needed.
- Carry out inspections, testing, and minor maintenance of fire equipment and fixed fire protection systems.
- Keep fire stations, vehicles, and emergency assets ready for immediate use.
- Take part in emergency drills, training activities, and fitness routines.
- Support the development and readiness of emergency response teams.
Financial responsibilities
- Contribute to planning, tracking, and reporting Fire & Rescue O&M budget needs.
Performance expectations
- Deliver quick and efficient emergency response.
- Ensure drills are conducted regularly and effectively.
- Maintain equipment in dependable working condition.
- Help increase near-miss reporting and overall safety awareness.
- Support the goal of zero reportable accidents and no environmental permit violations.
- Contribute to maintaining ISO/OHSAS and related safety management standards.
Qualifications and experience
The role calls for at least 5 years of experience in fire and rescue work in an industrial or similar setting. Candidates must hold a professional firefighting qualification from a government-approved institute, or have equivalent military fire and rescue experience.
Knowledge and skills
Applicants should be familiar with firefighting and rescue methods, fire behavior and hazard identification, breathing apparatus operation, first aid and resuscitation, testing of fire protection systems and equipment, local fire and rescue regulations, basic computer use, and safety management systems.
