Role summary
SOCOTEC is seeking a Fire Safety Consultant to join its growing Environment & Safety team in support of expansion across Ireland. This position is suited to someone who is confident handling fire risk work and who may want to step into a more senior role over time. The role offers scope to influence a developing team, broaden client relationships, and contribute to business growth while keeping buildings and occupants safer.
What you will do
- Carry out detailed fire risk assessments.
- Complete surveys covering fire compartmentation and integrity.
- Inspect fire doors and assess their condition and performance.
- Advise clients on fire safety matters and statutory compliance.
- Review plans and support fire safety decision-making.
- Develop, audit, and improve management procedures related to fire safety.
- Deliver clear and engaging fire safety training.
- Prepare thorough reports within required deadlines and quality standards.
- Help clients understand the relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
- Identify hazards and risks, then recommend practical measures to reduce them to an acceptable level.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of current experience carrying out full and comprehensive fire risk assessments.
- Working knowledge of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
- Strong understanding of building regulations and the fire safety requirements associated with them.
- Knowledge of relevant fire safety guidance documents.
- Good understanding of compartmentation in construction, including floors, walls, doors, fire stopping systems, penetration sealing products and techniques, and fire/smoke dampers.
- Detailed knowledge of British Standards relating to fire safety installations, including fire alarms, emergency lighting, signage, extinguishers, and suppression systems.
- Ability to identify hazards, assess associated risks, and propose effective controls.
- Experience producing detailed reports using company templates to agreed timescales and KPI targets.
- Ability to guide clients through statutory fire safety requirements while maintaining high service standards.
