Job description

About Figure

Figure is a fintech company using blockchain and AI to modernize capital markets. Its technology supports real products used by consumers and institutions, helping streamline how loans are originated, funded, and traded.

The company has worked with more than 170 partners and has originated over $22 billion in home equity loans on its blockchain-based platform. Its ecosystem also includes YLDS, an SEC-registered, yield-bearing stablecoin that functions as a tokenized money market fund, along with other products that are reshaping consumer finance and capital markets. Figure has been recognized by Forbes and Fast Company for innovation in fintech and finance.

About the Role

The Financial Crimes Associate will join the Financial Crimes team to manage alerts and escalations tied to suspicious activity, fraud, and potential money laundering concerns in near real time. The role involves close collaboration with investigators and review of escalations from other business lines to determine whether fraudulent activity may be present.

You will examine customer onboarding applications and alerts produced by transaction monitoring tools across both traditional and crypto-related products. The focus of the role is fraud detection, loss prevention, and mitigation across lending and banking services. Training may also include reviewing alerts connected to anti-money laundering requirements.

The position calls for sound judgment, strong analysis, and a balance between protecting customers and reducing fraud as the business scales and fraud patterns change.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Bank Secrecy Act and Fraud Program, with an emphasis on transaction monitoring, fraud incidents, and compliance with federal reporting obligations for suspicious or criminal activity such as money laundering, potential terrorist financing, fraudulently obtained loans, and related banking or lending issues.
  • Review assigned operational work, spot signs of fraud, reduce losses through timely action, and escalate matters to management when needed.
  • Apply mitigation measures as directed while balancing customer experience with fraud prevention.
  • Build and maintain working knowledge of applicable state and federal banking secrecy and anti-money laundering laws and regulations.
  • Assess customer transactions and applications through manual and automated methods to identify fraud and BSA-related concerns.
  • Escalate cases so SARs and Elder Abuse/Financial Abuse reports are filed within required federal deadlines.
  • Follow requirements tied to CIP, CDD, EDD, OFAC, and Elder/Dependent Abuse regulations.
  • Help monitor alerts and support the administration and resolution of transaction monitoring cases.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of experience in anti-money laundering, fraud, or compliance within a financial institution, or relevant law enforcement experience.
  • Ability to make important decisions quickly in a fast-moving environment.
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, sound judgment, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of fraud and/or AML operations, procedures, and policies.
  • Genuine interest in fraud prevention and BSA/AML compliance work.
  • Ability to communicate fraud and BSA/AML guidance clearly and prepare concise written documentation.
  • Good organizational skills and effective time management.
  • CAMS, CFE, or similar compliance credentials are preferred.
  • Availability to work weekends or nonstandard hours, including late evenings or early mornings, depending on business needs.
  • The company will not sponsor work visas for this position.
  • Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States and complete employment eligibility verification at hire.
  • California residents should review the applicable employee and general workforce privacy notice before applying, where relevant.

Compensation

The hourly base pay range for this U.S. role is $28.46 to $42.69. The role also includes a 25% annual bonus target, paid quarterly, plus company equity in the form of RSUs. Final compensation depends on experience, skills, location, internal equity, and business needs.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage, including 100% employer-paid premiums for employees and dependents on select plans.
  • HSA, FSA, dependent care FSA, 401(k), and commuter benefits.
  • Employer-paid life and disability insurance.
  • 11 observed holidays and a PTO plan.
  • Up to 12 weeks of paid family leave.
  • Continuing education reimbursement.
