Job description
About the company
This is a respected New Zealand organisation with a presence across multiple industries and a reputation for being practical, customer-oriented and dependable. It has built a loyal customer base by performing consistently, handling complexity well and adapting as market needs change.
The business is now moving into a new stage of growth, with a stronger focus on commercial capability, more mature systems and greater use of insight to improve decision-making. Finance is becoming a more strategic function, with increasing influence over performance, planning and long-term business outcomes. The company is also adopting new technology, and this position will be important in that transformation.
About the role
This is a senior finance partnering role for someone who can bring commercial judgement, influence and analytical depth to support strategic decisions. You will work closely with operational leaders, turn complex information into practical recommendations, and help improve performance across a business that is growing and changing.
The role also offers scope to contribute to systems, processes and reporting improvements, while making a meaningful impact on the business over the long term.
Key responsibilities
- Review monthly results and work with non-finance leaders to support performance improvement
- Prepare budgets and forecasts
- Provide commercial review and analysis of major contracts, along with new product and work proposals
- Build financial models, including scenario testing and return on investment analysis
- Assess cost of sales, margin and other performance measures
- Partner closely with operational teams on an ongoing basis
- Handle additional ad hoc finance tasks as needed
About you
You will do well in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment where adaptability, initiative and sound judgement matter. Experience in management accounting will help, but what will really set you apart is your ability to understand the commercial drivers of the business and convert financial information into clear, actionable insight.
You should bring strong business partnering ability, a hands-on mindset and a willingness to take ownership. A collaborative, low-ego approach, high personal accountability, a positive attitude and a genuine interest in learning and development are all important. Curiosity around technology, process improvement and smarter ways of working will also be valued.
What’s on offer
The position comes with broad exposure across the business, continuing learning opportunities and a clear path for career progression. Flexible working is available, including the ability to work remotely for part of the week.
