Job description
Company Overview
Rand & Co. Holdings is an Atlanta-based permanent capital holding company with more than $400M in platform revenue spread across nine operating businesses in industrial manufacturing, government contracting, hospitality, consumer platforms, and financial services. The firm operates as a long-term owner that acquires and grows businesses with a principal-led mindset and is actively adding to its portfolio.
Over the past several quarters, the company has invested heavily in an AI-enabled finance function, including custom ERP data pipelines, consolidated reporting across multiple instances, live three-statement forecasting, and auto-built quarterly review decks. Work that previously consumed weeks of analyst time is now compressed into hours, and the associate will help run, improve, and pressure-test this stack with the Head of Finance.
Role Summary
Rand & Co. Holdings is hiring a Finance Associate to support the platform finance team and work closely with the Head of Finance across all nine operating companies. This position is ideal for someone who wants to create and own financial infrastructure rather than simply maintain systems handed to them.
The role has a wide scope across FP&A, treasury, compliance, and transaction support in a multi-business portfolio. Reporting processes are still being standardized, and this person will shape how the function evolves. The best fit will be someone who enjoys ambiguity, ownership, and building structure where it does not yet exist.
The finance stack is being built around AI-first tooling, including Claude Code, Next.js dashboards, Supabase, and Python data pipelines. This role is expected to actively operate, verify, and expand those tools rather than only using static Excel outputs. The position reports to the Head of Finance and offers visibility to senior platform leadership and active deal work.
Key Responsibilities
- Own monthly reporting support across the portfolio by gathering actuals from ERP/GL systems, checking them against reconciliation views, performing variance analysis, and escalating issues to leadership.
- Lead the annual budgeting cycle across the operating companies.
- Build, validate, and expand custom dashboards for revenue, margin, cash, and company-specific views, with Excel used only as a backup when needed.
- Partner with finance contacts at each company to create dependable reporting schedules and improve data accuracy.
- Spot weaknesses in financial infrastructure, design the processes needed to fix them, drive adoption, and retire outdated workflows.
- Run AI-driven forecasting workflows covering customer-level revenue, P&L reconciliation, five-year three-statement projections, and 13-week cash flow, while checking assumptions and recommending improvements.
- Protect consolidation accuracy by reconciling entity results to the group level, validating intercompany eliminations, and catching classification issues before materials reach leadership or lenders.
- Prepare recurring packages for leadership, lenders, and quarterly reviews, including review decks, lender summaries, and covenant materials.
- Track cash across portfolio companies and highlight liquidity risks early.
- Maintain the platform’s 13-week cash forecast and weekly liquidity review process, including covenant headroom and liquidity inflection points.
- Track intercompany activity, capital allocation, and debt covenant compliance.
- Support lender reporting and lender calls, including preparing actual-versus-budget analyses, covenant calculations, and entity-level support; assist with refinancings and more complex covenant-default situations, including breach analysis and waiver requests.
- Coordinate background and credit screening for vendor and personnel diligence.
- Help develop internal controls as the platform grows.
- Support audits and manage external auditors, tax preparers, and advisors, including scope, fees, documentation, and follow-through on audit exceptions or qualified opinions.
- Work with the AI-enabled finance stack by directing AI agents, validating outputs against source data, and helping ship improvements across dashboards, forecast engines, deck generation, Excel exports, and reconciliation tools.
- Read Python, TypeScript, and SQL well enough to assess AI-generated work, identify issues, and use Claude Code to correct them.
- Approach finance like a builder by automating repetitive manual workflows wherever possible.
- Support active acquisition diligence with modeling, analysis, and transaction materials.
- Organize data rooms and assist with financial analysis and deal documentation as needed.
- Help newly acquired businesses join the FP&A stack after close, including data ingestion, dashboard setup, and forecast configuration.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate brings 3 to 5 years of experience in FP&A, corporate finance, accounting, or Big 4 advisory. Experience with multi-entity or multi-segment businesses, including intercompany activity, consolidations, or instance-level rollups, is a plus.
You should be comfortable creating structure in an environment that is still evolving, and you should have a track record of driving process or system changes that other teams had to adopt. It is not enough to build a tool; you should also know how to get people to actually use it and stop using the old process.
Strong users of agentic AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, Aider, or similar platforms are strongly preferred. The company is looking for people who have already shipped automations or analyses where AI handled most of the coding and the candidate directed and validated the output.
You need to be strong in Excel and financial modeling, but also comfortable working with dashboards, SQL, and lightweight data tools. The role suits someone who can analyze a P&L in Excel and also use a SQL query when the answer is not obvious in the dashboard.
Other important traits include strong communication skills, discretion, organization, trustworthiness, and a habit of questioning AI output before relying on it. The team also expects the person to be Atlanta-based or willing to relocate, since this is an in-office role.
Compensation and Growth
The company offers a competitive base salary, an annual performance bonus, and full benefits. For strong long-term performers, there may be an opportunity to participate in portfolio company economics, including carried interest or direct equity in individual businesses. Compensation is intended to reflect an ownership mindset over time.
Application Instructions
Applicants should send a resume along with a short note explaining how they use Claude Code or a similar agentic coding tool in professional work. The note should describe what has been built, automated, or validated, and may include a link, screenshot, or code excerpt. Generic comments about using chat tools for email writing will not be compelling.
