  • Assist with hazard assessments before project launch and throughout the project life cycle for medium- to high-risk work.
  • Support the preparation and review of Safe Job Plans when needed.
  • Deliver health and safety training and site orientations for applicable personnel.
  • Track subcontractor safety performance and carry out periodic audits.
  • Complete audits and additional site inspections as required.
  • Confirm that corrective actions from inspections are completed.

  • Support incident investigations and provide recommendations.
  • Maintain HSE records, including inspections, audits, tailboards, SDS documents, toolbox talks, and HSE meeting records.
  • Attend client meetings, subcontractor kickoff meetings, and daily or weekly safety meetings.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with workers, management, clients, consultants, visitors, and community members to reinforce a strong safety culture.
  • Work with the internal WCB Claims Coordinator on injury cases and help monitor the return-to-work program.
  • Carry out other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of field OHS leadership experience in the energy sector, with utility construction preferred.
  • Active National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) certification is required; CRSP, CUSP, CHSE, or similar credentials are considered an advantage.
  • Strong skills in organization, time management, and independent as well as team-based work.

  • Experience with orientations, inspections, and incident reporting.
  • Ability to monitor credentials and qualifications for employees and subcontractors to ensure compliance.
  • Capability to identify site hazards and reduce risk through walkthroughs and other controls.

  • Willingness to work a 21 days on / 7 days off rotation on projects across Canada.
