About the Role
Northpower is seeking a dedicated Faultperson to join their team in Whangarei, Northland, New Zealand. In this critical role, you will be responsible for maintaining and restoring power across the electricity distribution network. Your duties will include performing repairs, executing High Voltage (HV) switching, testing and earthing equipment, and responding to power faults by investigating, isolating, and restoring supply. Safety is paramount, and the ideal candidate will share this commitment and excel in a team setting. Availability for the after-hours faults standby roster, including evenings and weekends, is essential. Given the public-facing nature of the role, strong customer service skills are also a requirement. This is an excellent opportunity to join a cohesive team during their peak season.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute approved switching procedures on network equipment for both planned and unplanned scenarios.
- Safely and effectively test and earth electrical equipment.
- Ensure strict adherence to all operational, regulatory, and customer requirements, aiming to exceed expectations.
- Conduct internal audits as necessary to maintain standards.
- Promote open communication and proactively address the needs of the team.
About You
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience as an Electrician, Line Mechanic, or Cable Jointer.
- Previous experience with remedial/fault work, including switching, is highly preferred.
- A valid driver’s license.
- The ability to participate in the after-hours faults roster.
- Proficiency in verbal and written communication.
- A positive outlook and a collaborative working style.
