Systems on Silicon Manufacturing Company Pte. Ltd. (SSMC) is a semiconductor foundry joint venture formed by NXP and TSMC. The company provides cost-effective wafer fabrication services supported by a fully equipped SMIF cleanroom environment, complete equipment automation, and established manufacturing processes.

Role Overview

This position is for an Associate Engineer in the Facilities Department. The role focuses on supporting HVAC systems, cleanroom operations, building services, and maintenance activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support cleanroom, chiller, HVAC, environmental protection, process utilities, building services, and other mechanical facilities used in wafer fabrication, ensuring utilities remain available at the required performance standards.
  • Develop, implement, review, and continuously enhance preventive and predictive maintenance plans so equipment and systems operate reliably.
  • Perform troubleshooting and repairs quickly to bring systems back to normal operation, then investigate root causes and put corrective actions in place to avoid repeat failures.
  • Create and maintain effective reporting and tracking methods for system performance and capacity utilisation, and propose and carry out improvement projects where suitable.
  • Review and refine operating procedures to support efficient and stable operation of the systems under charge.
  • Track utility usage, work with users to reduce consumption where possible, and support efficiency initiatives.
  • Stay familiar with applicable standards, legislation, and codes of practice, and ensure compliance with them.
  • Guide and train colleagues on the assigned systems to build team capability and operational backup.
  • Assess and recommend required spares, consumables, and other resources needed for daily operations.
  • Handle building services and maintenance tasks such as building repairs and upgrades, housekeeping, landscaping, and pest control.

Requirements

  • Diploma in Science, Mechanical Engineering, Building, or a related equivalent qualification.
  • 1 to 3 years of relevant work experience in the semiconductor, pharmaceutical, or petrochemical sector.
  • Practical, hands-on experience in daily operations and maintenance is essential.
  • Experience managing cleanroom systems in a Class 100 environment.
  • Working knowledge of maintenance principles and sound engineering practices.
