Job description

Role Overview

QFAB – Qatar Fabrication Company is hiring a Fabrication Planner for its Ras Laffan, Qatar operations. The position reports to the Operations Engineering Manager and focuses on planning, monitoring, and coordinating fabrication and shop activities to keep work aligned with project needs and yard capacity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage prefab and shop-level plans based on project requirements.
  • Assist time office activities by collecting actual fabrication manhours from the yard.
  • Track workstation-wise progress and productivity for components being fabricated in the shop.
  • Communicate schedule risks, sensitivities, impacts, and performance analysis results to planners and decision-makers in a timely manner.
  • Maintain an integrated fabrication plan that covers all committed work and stays within shop capacity.
  • Support issue resolution and help prepare mitigation actions when planning conflicts arise.
  • Build productivity monitoring tools and Level 4 planning trackers for each workstation and component.
  • Prepare and issue shop planning deliverables, including the weekly PSR, 12-week lookahead, and manpower forecasts for the prefab area.
  • Publish monthly and weekly workload-versus-capacity reports for each machine.
  • Lead shop planning meetings and forecast discussions.
  • Coordinate with project PMT and planners to review schedules, understand requirements, and flag possible delays.
  • Run biweekly shop planning meetings and work with shop engineers and supervisors on weekly and daily progress reviews and schedule forecasts.
  • Create planning tools for weekly KPI tracking in the shop.
  • Identify critical issues and planning concerns affecting the prefab shop.
  • Support the planning lead in overall yard planning activities when required.
  • Work with yard project planners to raise concerns and align on planning impacts.
  • Contribute to weekly layout meetings with shop component and schedule inputs.

Qualifications and Experience

The role calls for a B.Sc. Engineering, B.E., B.Tech, or Diploma qualification, along with more than 6 years of relevant experience. Candidates should be comfortable working in fabrication planning environments and have exposure to onshore and offshore projects.

Tools and Technical Skills

Strong working knowledge of Primavera and Excel-based planning tools is required, along with the ability to use them effectively for monitoring, forecasting, and reporting.
