About the Role
The company is seeking a proactive and highly detail-focused Fabric Merchandiser with 2 to 3 years of experience across both knit and woven fabrics. This role calls for a solid textile foundation, strong awareness of the market, and the ability to work closely with mills, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to keep fabric sourcing and development on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full knit fabric merchandising cycle, from initial development through bulk execution.
- Oversee fabric development, sample coordination, and approval follow-ups.
- Liaise with mills and suppliers on pricing, quality, delivery timelines, and lead times.
- Track lab dips, strike-offs, bulk production progress, and testing requirements.
- Review fabric quality metrics and ensure alignment with buyer expectations and standards.
- Negotiate with vendors to achieve better cost efficiency.
- Keep fabric-related records, approvals, and documentation organized and up to date.
- Coordinate regularly with production, planning, and design teams.
- Ensure fabric is available on time so production schedules are not affected.
Requirements
- Graduate or diploma qualification in Textile Technology, or a closely related discipline.
- 2 to 3 years of experience in fabric merchandising; a textile industry background is preferred.
- Strong understanding of knit and woven constructions, GSM, blends, dyeing, and finishing processes.
- Knowledge of textile operations and fabric quality benchmarks.
- Effective communication and negotiation abilities.
- Experience in vendor coordination and consistent follow-up.
- Comfortable working under tight deadlines.
- Basic understanding of costing and fabric consumption calculations.
- Working proficiency in MS Excel.
