Job description
Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Chef to work across a variety of hospitality settings in Christchurch. This opportunity suits someone who wants flexible scheduling, exposure to different kitchen environments, and the chance to support high-quality food service in premium venues.
The position involves casual and ongoing work across restaurants, catering businesses, corporate events, functions, hotels, and other premium hospitality operations. Shifts may vary, giving you the chance to build a roster that fits around other commitments while broadening your practical experience.
What You Will Do
You will contribute to kitchen operations across different sites, working alongside established teams to deliver consistent, high-standard meals and service. Each shift may bring a different setting, service style, and pace, which creates variety and helps strengthen your culinary range.
Candidate Profile
The ideal person will already have solid chef experience in busy hospitality, catering, or commercial kitchen settings. You should bring strong cooking ability, a professional manner, and the confidence to stay organised and effective in a fast-paced environment.
To be successful, you must have your own chef uniform and knife kit. Having your own transport is useful, and you must hold open, unrestricted working rights in New Zealand.
Pay and Benefits
This role pays between $32 and $36 per hour, plus 8% holiday pay. In addition to competitive pay, you will have the flexibility to choose shifts that suit your lifestyle and the chance to work in a wide range of kitchens, events, and high-end hospitality venues across Christchurch.
It is also an opportunity to connect with hospitality professionals, develop your career, and continue building experience through ongoing work with supportive teams.
Additional Information
This position offers casual and ongoing opportunities rather than a single fixed routine. The work is based in Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand, and is intended for chefs who enjoy variety, pace, and professional growth across different hospitality environments.
