Job description
About the role
Lyft is hiring a strategic and highly proactive Executive Social & Communications Manager to define how its senior leaders present themselves publicly. The position blends executive communications with social storytelling and requires someone who can move comfortably between long-term strategy and day-to-day content execution. In this role, you will partner closely with the CEO and other executives to turn business priorities into clear narratives, timely cultural moments, and effective messaging across channels. The work calls for sharp editing, fast content development, sound judgment, discretion with confidential information, and the ability to thrive in a high-trust environment.
This position reports to the Director of Corporate Communications.
Key responsibilities
- Act as a trusted communications partner to the CEO and selected executives, creating integrated annual plans that span owned, earned, social, and emerging media.
- Own executive social presence from strategy through execution, including calendars, copy, content production, and community interaction, with LinkedIn and X as the main platforms.
- Build the framework for how Lyft leaders communicate publicly by defining tone, repeatable best practices, and scalable guidance for the executive team.
- Develop thought leadership plans that elevate executives as industry voices while reinforcing Lyft’s mission and strategic priorities.
- Coordinate all external executive communications, including media engagement, speaking opportunities, and social media output.
- Switch between editing executive video content and planning multi-month thought leadership programs as needed.
- Create and run digital plans for executive events and appearances, covering pre-event messaging, live coverage, and post-event distribution.
- Test new content formats and platforms to broaden executive reach and improve engagement.
- Measure performance through KPIs, interpret the results, and adjust strategy based on what the data shows.
Experience and qualifications
- Substantial experience supporting senior leaders across both strategy and execution; 4 to 7 years is typical, although capability matters more than years alone.
- Background working with executives who have generated meaningful media visibility and stronger social influence over time.
- Ability to move easily between strategic planning, media relations, and social content production.
- Strong content creation ability across written, video, and visual formats, including capturing and editing short-form social video on the fly.
- Ability to simplify complex business ideas into concise, engaging messages by asking the right questions, connecting ideas, and stepping back to see the bigger picture.
Benefits
- Medical, dental, and vision coverage, plus additional programs available to enrolled employees.
- Mental health support.
- Family-building assistance.
- Child care and pet benefits.
- 401(k) plan with company matching.
- 12 observed holidays, plus discretionary paid time off for salaried employees and 15 days of paid time off for hourly employees.
- 18 weeks of paid parental leave for biological, adoptive, and foster parents.
- Subsidized commuter benefits.
- Monthly Lyft credits and a complimentary Lyft Pink membership.
