Role overview
This position is part of a food production team in Eunos, Singapore. The role focuses on preparing daily meals, maintaining kitchen standards, and supporting a training-oriented environment where trainees are included in day-to-day kitchen work. The job also contributes to internal events and catering assignments as needed, while supporting the organisation’s wider mission of inclusive vocational training and employment.
Key responsibilities
- Organise and cook daily meals based on the planned menu and nutritional guidelines.
- Keep the kitchen clean and ensure all practices meet SFA and food hygiene requirements.
- Coordinate with instructors so trainees can take part in kitchen tasks such as preparation, plating, and cleaning.
- Help teach trainees culinary techniques and safe kitchen practices.
- Make sure kitchen equipment is properly maintained and used safely.
- Support stock control activities, including inventory checks, stock rotation, and procurement requirements.
- Prepare food for internal functions or catering work when required.
- Contribute to APSN CFA’s goal of creating meaningful vocational training and inclusive job opportunities.
Requirements
- Higher NITEC, Diploma, or Degree in any field.
- At least 2 years of experience working as a cook.
- Solid understanding of cooking methods, menu planning, and kitchen operations.
- Good verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable working with people with special needs and their caregivers.
- Knowledge of Halal practices and basic costing concepts.
