Position overview

The Event Sales Manager will lead revenue generation and client relationship management for Death & Co and Close Company. This role is focused on delivering strong event sales outcomes, building lasting partnerships, and shaping high-visibility events that reflect the brands’ standards and identity.

The person in this position will guide clients from initial inquiry through event completion, helping create a smooth, well-planned experience that aligns with their goals. The role also supports Gin & Luck’s broader sales efforts under the direction of the executive leadership team.

Reporting structure

  • Reports directly to the Senior Director of Brand.
  • Partners closely with the CEO, COO, Vice President of Operations-B&M Venues, Vice President of Operations-Product, Senior Director of Operations-Close Company, Senior Director of Operations-Death & Co, and the Marketing Manager.

Core responsibilities

Sales strategy and revenue growth

  • Create and run an event sales plan aimed at social gatherings, corporate events, and private functions across Death & Co and Close Company venues.
  • Work with operations leaders to establish annual sales targets and review performance against them.
  • Develop new business through third-party planners, luxury social clients, partnerships, and related opportunities.
  • Monitor market movements and competitor activity to improve pricing, package design, and sponsorship offers.
  • Support sales efforts for consulting services, the membership program, Fashioned, and sponsorships, with priorities set by company leadership.

Client relationship management

  • Act as the main point of contact for event clients from first inquiry to final execution.
  • Build strong, long-term relationships with clients and planners.
  • Use a consultative selling approach to match event design and culinary solutions to client goals.
  • Handle contract discussions, deposits, billing, and post-event follow-up.
  • Improve the client experience by using feedback and personal judgment to guide action plans.
  • Respond to concerns and complaints after events and manage follow-through.

Collaboration and oversight

  • Work with general managers and culinary teams to coordinate tasting sessions, menu planning, floor plans, and event logistics.
  • Serve as the bridge between clients and operations to make sure staffing, menus, service expectations, and logistics are clearly understood and delivered.
  • Track event timing, handle last-minute changes, and solve client or operational issues as they arise.
  • Review event feedback after completion, capture lessons learned, and identify opportunities for repeat business.
  • Assist with forecasting, pricing strategy, and revenue projections in line with annual targets.
  • Monitor budgets, costs, and vendor agreements to protect profitability.
  • Track and reconcile service fees and employee event earnings for accurate payroll submission.
  • Provide regular updates on sales performance, pipeline activity, booking pace, and forecasts.

Activations

  • Partner with leadership to evaluate activations for brand value.
  • Help define annual goals and timing for external activations.
  • Oversee logistics and coordination for external activations.
  • Work with leadership to prepare activation post-mortems.

Brand integrity

  • Maintain consistent product and brand standards throughout the event and activation process.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and outside partners to keep work aligned with brand objectives.
  • Protect long-term brand value by ensuring event offerings reflect the company’s hospitality, creativity, and quality standards.

Administrative work

  • Keep event sales decks, activation decks, and promotional materials up to date.
  • Attend recurring company meetings and alignment sessions.
  • Support additional reports and special projects as needed.

Required qualifications

  • At least 2 years of progressive leadership experience in a multi-function organization.
  • At least 2 years of event sales experience, preferably in restaurants or hospitality.
  • Strong emotional intelligence and discretion.
  • Demonstrated success in growing event sales, revenue, and large-scale bookings in a luxury setting.
  • Good understanding of event planning, catering logistics, and client relationship management.
  • Experience preparing event proposals, negotiating contracts, and managing deposits.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and consultative selling abilities.
  • Experience creating and managing event and activation decks.
  • Strong cross-functional coordination and event execution oversight skills.
  • Familiarity with luxury service standards and high-touch hospitality.
  • Comfort using event sales tools, CRM platforms, and Google Workspace.
  • Strong project management ability and the capacity to prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Experience handling budgets and contracts.
  • Ability to work effectively with remote colleagues.
  • Flexibility to work early mornings and evenings, with travel as needed.
  • Patience, adaptability, self-motivation, teamwork, high ethical standards, and a good sense of humor.

Preferred qualifications

  • A 4-year degree from an accredited university in a related field.
  • 3 or more years of event sales experience in luxury hospitality.
  • 3 or more years of management-level experience.
  • Working knowledge of project management principles.

Compensation and benefits

The base salary for this role is $90,000 to $100,000, plus commission.

Employees become eligible for the company 401(k) plan after a vesting period that begins on the first day of work. The company does not currently match contributions. Medical, dental, vision, and life benefits are available to full-time and part-time employees.
