Estimator - Scaffolding

Role Overview

This full-time, permanent office-based position in Surrey, British Columbia is for an Estimator focused on scaffolding projects. The employer is a growing scaffolding contractor supporting commercial, industrial, institutional, and residential work across Metro Vancouver.

The position is suited to an experienced estimator who understands scaffolding operations, construction workflows, and project logistics, and who can build practical and competitive solutions for a variety of construction environments.

What You Will Do

• Examine drawings, specifications, tender packages, and project requirements to understand scope.
• Visit job sites to evaluate site conditions, logistics, and overall project complexity.
• Prepare detailed quantity take-offs covering labour, materials, equipment, and transportation.
• Build accurate quotations and tender submissions that are competitive in the market.
• Price scaffolding installations, shrink wrap systems, material hoists, garbage chutes, and related services.
• Coordinate with operations teams so estimates are aligned with delivery and execution plans.
• Spot risks, constraints, and opportunities throughout the estimating process.
• Develop and maintain effective relationships with general contractors, developers, and other project stakeholders.
• Handle multiple tenders at once while keeping submissions accurate and on time.
• Support project handoffs and compare estimated costs with actual project performance.
• Contribute to business development by identifying opportunities for future work.

What the Employer Is Looking For

• At least 3 years of estimating experience in scaffolding or a closely related construction field.
• Solid knowledge of scaffolding systems, construction methods, and site operations.
• Experience pricing projects in commercial, industrial, institutional, or residential construction.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
• Strong understanding of labour, equipment, and material cost structures.
• Excellent communication, organization, and relationship-management abilities.
• Comfortable using Microsoft Excel and estimating software.
• Self-driven approach with the ability to manage several deadlines in a busy environment.

Compensation and Growth

The compensation package includes a salary of $90,000 to $100,000 plus commission.
