About the Role

Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital in Vero Beach, Florida is seeking an Environmental Services Area Cleaner to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming setting for patients, visitors, and staff. The hospital is part of a highly regarded healthcare organization known for compassionate, collaborative care and advanced technology. This position also offers a pathway to grow into other Environmental Services roles or opportunities in other departments.

Work Schedule

This job may be assigned to first, second, or third shift. The schedule can also include rotating weekends and holidays.

Key Duties

  • Maintain cleanliness in patient rooms, exam rooms, offices, waiting spaces, discharge rooms, public restrooms, and other assigned locations.
  • Remove waste, wipe surfaces, handle spills, clean furniture, and complete other housekeeping tasks as needed.
  • Replenish paper goods and related supplies in restrooms and exam areas.
  • Alert the team leader or supervisor when supplies are running low.
  • Work in line with department procedures and standard operating methods.
  • Meet hospital-wide and department-specific quality and safety expectations.
  • Complete 1 to 3 months of practical training covering departmental procedures, cleaning methods, and the correct use and storage of cleaning agents and chemicals.

Preferred Background

  • A high school diploma or GED is preferred.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to remain in one position for long periods when needed.
  • Ability to stay mobile for extended periods.
  • Capability to use a computer and other office equipment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and exchange accurate information.
  • Ability to move items and equipment weighing up to 10 lbs.
  • Ability to move carts weighing 100 lbs. or more.
  • Ability to inspect equipment.
  • Ability to clean, operate cleaning equipment, and use cleaning products.
  • May be exposed to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
