Job description

Role overview

This is a remote, hourly contract opportunity for an English Quality Assurance Lead. The role focuses on safeguarding quality and consistency across AI training projects by reviewing English content, checking trainer and QA output, and making sure all work matches the project rubric and guidelines.

You will assess submissions for accuracy, clarity, reasoning quality, grammar, tone, structure, formatting, and instruction adherence. The position also involves delivering written feedback, identifying repeated issues, supporting onboarding, keeping documentation up to date, and helping re-engage contributors who are inactive.

The organization is a fast-growing AI data services company that provides training data to major AI companies and foundation model labs. In this role, your work will help improve AI systems by ensuring data is well-structured, reliable, and aligned with client needs.

There is currently no active project attached to this role. However, if you are a fit, you may be contacted first when relevant opportunities come up, and you may also gain access to future work through the expert network.

Role focus

The position requires excellent command of English, careful attention to detail, and strong coordination skills in remote team settings.

Responsibilities

  • Review submitted work, flag quality concerns, provide ongoing written feedback, and escalate significant or repeated issues.
  • Keep trainers and QAs informed on Discord about updated instructions, workflow changes, project expectations, and new guidelines.
  • Answer contributor questions clearly and quickly so that instructions and edge cases are understood correctly.
  • Reach out to inactive contributors, encourage them to resume work, track follow-ups, and report any availability concerns.
  • Build and maintain project materials such as style guides, trackers, FAQs, quality notes, examples, honeypots, and onboarding content.
  • Organize and lead onboarding or training sessions to explain standards, rubrics, processes, and quality expectations.
  • Make sure trainers and QAs apply rules consistently as projects change over time.
  • Identify repeated quality problems, suggest improvements, and help develop scalable QA workflows for future projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in English, Linguistics, Communications, Journalism, Education, AI/Data Annotation, Quality Assurance, or a related field.
  • Strong command of English, including grammar, clarity, tone, register, structure, and the ability to write effective feedback.
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in QA, editing, content review, AI training, education, annotation, localization QA, or a similar review-based role.
  • Prior experience guiding or supporting remote teams of trainers, annotators, reviewers, editors, or QAs is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to evaluate work using detailed rubrics, identify gaps, and explain problems in a constructive way.
  • Strong written communication skills for handling questions, sharing updates, and giving actionable feedback.
  • Comfort working in fast-paced remote environments with tools such as Discord, Google Sheets, Google Docs, trackers, dashboards, and project management platforms.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to maintain documentation and quality resources.
  • Dependable, self-driven, and able to manage activation follow-ups, escalations, and quality checks across time zones.
  • Exposure to AI training, data annotation, large language models, prompt/response evaluation, or rubric-based LLM QA is a plus.
