Job description

Role overview

We are looking for an English Quality Assurance Lead to support quality control across AI training work. In this remote contractor role, you will review English content created by AI systems as well as the work of trainers and QA reviewers, then compare it with project instructions and standards. The role is hourly and remote, and it focuses on keeping output accurate, consistent, and well-documented.

You will be expected to assess work for grammar, clarity, reasoning quality, tone, formatting, instruction adherence, and alignment with each project’s rubric. The position also involves giving clear written feedback, spotting repeated issues, helping contributors stay active, supporting onboarding, and keeping project documentation current.

This is part of a fast-growing AI data services business that supplies training data to major AI companies and foundation model labs. Your work will directly support the improvement of AI models by helping ensure the underlying data is reliable and consistent.

There is no active project available immediately for this position. If you are a good fit, you may be contacted first when relevant opportunities come up, and you may also gain access to future assignments through the expert network.

Responsibilities

  • Review submitted work, identify quality problems, and share ongoing feedback through direct messages.
  • Escalate repeated or serious issues when they appear.
  • Keep trainers and QAs informed about updated instructions, workflow changes, and quality expectations.
  • Answer contributor questions promptly and in a way that makes the requirements easy to understand.
  • Reach out to inactive contributors, encourage them to re-engage, track follow-ups, and note availability concerns.
  • Build and maintain project materials such as style guides, trackers, FAQs, quality notes, sample references, honeypots, and onboarding documents.
  • Plan and lead onboarding or training calls to explain expectations, workflows, rubrics, and quality standards.
  • Make sure all trainers and QAs apply the same guidelines consistently as the project changes.
  • Recommend process improvements and help design scalable QA workflows for future projects.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in English, Linguistics, Communications, Journalism, Education, AI/Data Annotation, Quality Assurance, or a related field.
  • Excellent command of English, including grammar, clarity, tone, structure, register, and written feedback quality.
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in quality assurance, editing, content review, AI training, education, annotation, localization QA, or a similar review-based role.
  • Prior experience leading or supporting remote teams of trainers, annotators, reviewers, editors, or QA staff is strongly preferred.
  • Strong ability to assess work against detailed rubrics, identify gaps, and explain problems clearly and constructively.
  • Excellent written communication skills for responding to questions and sharing actionable guidance.
  • Comfort working in fast-paced remote setups using tools such as Discord, Google Sheets, Google Docs, trackers, dashboards, and project management platforms.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for maintaining guides, FAQs, trackers, onboarding resources, honeypots, and other QA documentation.
  • Dependable, self-driven, and able to manage activation, follow-ups, escalations, and quality checks across time zones.
  • Experience with AI training, data annotation, large language models, prompt and response evaluation, or rubric-based LLM QA is an added advantage.
