Job description
Job Overview
We are looking for an English Language Expert to join a remote contractor workflow focused on improving AI-generated English content. In this hourly role, you will review model outputs, create expert-level language examples when needed, and give clear, practical feedback that helps improve reasoning, accuracy, and writing quality.
You will assess whether responses follow the prompt correctly, spot mistakes in logic or meaning, verify facts when needed, and rewrite or refine explanations so they demonstrate the right method. You will also compare multiple AI responses and judge which one is more accurate, clearer, and better reasoned.
This position supports an AI data services company that develops training data for major AI companies and foundation-model labs. Your language expertise will contribute directly to making AI systems more natural, precise, and reliable.
There is no active project attached to this role at the moment. If you are qualified, you may be contacted first when relevant opportunities become available, and you may also gain access to future work through the expert network.
Qualifications and Profile
A bachelor’s degree or above in Linguistics, English, Translation/Localization, Communications, Journalism, or a related discipline is expected. Candidates should have advanced English ability, ideally native-level or C2, with at least C1 proficiency required. Strong command of an additional language at a professional level is a plus.
You should be comfortable working with grammar, syntax, semantics, pragmatics, discourse flow, and style across different tones and formats. The role also calls for strong attention to detail, especially when identifying ambiguity, meaning shifts, inconsistencies, and subtle errors, as well as the ability to explain corrections clearly in writing.
Familiarity with style guides and maintaining consistency in tone, terminology, punctuation, and capitalization is important. Experience in AI training data, annotation, editorial QA, localization QA, or professional copyediting is highly valued. Hands-on use of tools such as Perplexity, Gemini, ChatGPT, and similar platforms is also part of the preferred profile.
Key Responsibilities
- Create high-quality prompts and sample responses on a range of topics to help train AI systems.
- Review, compare, and rank AI-generated answers to improve accuracy, fluency, and relevance to context.
- Check models for errors, inconsistencies, or bias and help confirm that outputs are dependable across different use cases.
- Evaluate reasoning quality, step-by-step edits, and explanations to ensure they are correct and easy to understand.
- Provide specific, actionable feedback that can be used to refine future AI responses and model behavior.
Work Arrangement
This is a remote, hourly contractor position. The work is organized in a flexible, self-directed format and may involve collaboration across time zones.
Additional Information
There is currently no immediate assignment for this role. However, qualified candidates may be contacted when matching projects come up and may be considered for future expert-network opportunities.
