Job description

Overview

RAYNE is expanding its consultant bench and is seeking accomplished energy lawyers to support client assignments across Qatar and the wider GCC region. The work spans the full energy spectrum, from renewable energy and hydrogen developments to traditional oil and gas matters, as well as the regulatory changes shaping the sector.

Consultants are placed directly inside client teams, acting as a close extension of their internal legal function. Assignments can differ in duration, industry focus, and legal specialism, and every consultant is supported by the RAYNE team throughout the engagement. The company’s approach is built on trust, adaptability, and long-term relationships with both clients and consultants.

Key work areas

  • Provide legal support on upstream, midstream, and downstream oil and gas transactions and project matters.
  • Contribute to renewable energy, clean energy, and infrastructure-related mandates across the region.
  • Prepare and negotiate project agreements, joint venture documents, and energy-sector contracts.
  • Advise on regulatory, licensing, and compliance requirements across GCC jurisdictions.
  • Work closely with client executives, technical specialists, and public sector stakeholders.
  • Assist with project financing, concession structures, and cross-border energy transactions.

Candidate profile

  • Must be a qualified lawyer with more than 5 years of post-qualification experience in energy, projects, or natural resources.
  • Background across both private practice and in-house environments is preferred, ideally with experience in the GCC.
  • Strong understanding of project development, joint ventures, or energy regulation is important.
  • Exposure to ADNOC, DEWA, or similar regional energy organisations will be a strong plus.
  • The right candidate should be commercially minded, practical, and comfortable handling complex, multi-party matters.
  • Excellent English is required; Arabic language skills are an advantage.

Why join RAYNE

  • Opportunities can be structured around the candidate, including full-time secondments or project-based engagements.
  • Consultants work on significant matters inside client organisations rather than from the sidelines.
  • Continuous support is provided before, during, and after each assignment, including onboarding and wrap-up.
  • The model offers exposure to different sectors, organisations, and working styles, helping broaden professional experience.
