Job description
About the Role
APM is seeking an Employment Consultant to join its team in Inala, Queensland. This role is suited to someone who is motivated by helping people with disability move into meaningful work and stay employed for the long term. It offers the chance to make a direct difference in people’s lives while working with a large, established organisation known for stability and purpose.
The position focuses on connecting participants with suitable opportunities, strengthening their confidence, and working with employers to build inclusive hiring pathways. It is a hands-on role where no two days are likely to be the same.
About APM
APM is a global health and human services organisation that has been changing lives since 1994. With a team of 15,000 people across 11 countries, the organisation supports people of all abilities to live more independent and fulfilling lives. It also offers career growth and development across a wide network of brands.
What You’ll Do
In this role, you will help participants with disability prepare for employment, secure work, and remain in sustainable jobs. You’ll support them in recognising their strengths, overcoming barriers, and approaching new work with confidence and purpose.
You will also contribute creative, practical solutions when employment challenges arise, advocate for inclusive hiring and workplace adjustments, and celebrate successful outcomes with participants. Building strong relationships with employers who value diversity and inclusion will also be a key part of the role.
What Kind of Person Suits This Role
The ideal candidate is someone who genuinely values diversity and inclusion, communicates well with a range of people, and can identify opportunities for others. A solution-oriented mindset, empathy, and a desire to make a lasting positive impact are important qualities for success.
Experience from sales, retail, call centres, hospitality, consulting, business development, or administration may also transfer well to this position.
Why You’ll Appreciate Working Here
This is not a typical desk-based job. The role is designed for someone who wants to help break down barriers and support people with disability into work while being rewarded for their contribution.
Additional Benefits and Support
The package includes a competitive salary with performance-based incentives, ongoing training and development, and a supportive, inclusive team culture. The organisation also recognises milestones and hard work through events and other celebrations.
Other benefits include an Employee Assistance Program, purchased annual leave, paid parental leave, funded Certificate IV study in Community Services or Mental Health Peer Support where eligibility criteria are met, service recognition, APM Family Hub access, and vehicle salary packaging through Maxxia.
Diversity and Inclusion
APM values diversity and is committed to a workplace where everyone is included, respected, and treated fairly. Applications are encouraged from people of all ages, nationalities, abilities, and cultures, including Indigenous peoples, the LGBTQI+ community, and people with disability.
