Role overview
This remote Employee Relations Manager opportunity is based in the United States and is posted on behalf of a partner employer that oversees all applications and follow-up steps. The position sits at the center of a multi-state workforce, helping create a workplace that is fair, consistent, and aligned with legal and policy requirements.
In this role, you will be a dependable advisor to managers and employees, supporting them through sensitive employee relations matters with professionalism and sound judgment. The work is investigative by nature and includes handling workplace complaints, performance concerns, and conduct-related issues.
You will carry out careful, impartial investigations, produce well-documented findings, and help ensure outcomes are supported by policy and employment law. A major part of the job is coaching managers so they can communicate more effectively, document properly, and handle performance concerns with more consistency.
You will also work closely with HR, legal, and business stakeholders to apply standards evenly across regions. This is a fast-moving environment where discretion, accuracy, and strong decision-making are essential.
Key responsibilities
- Serve as the main employee relations point of contact for an assigned portfolio, advising leaders and employees on performance, conduct, attendance, and workplace conflict matters.
- Lead prompt and impartial workplace investigations, record findings clearly, and recommend resolutions that align with company policy and employment law.
- Read, interpret, and apply HR policies, handbook provisions, and employment legislation to support compliant and consistent decisions.
- Guide managers on performance management, corrective action, disciplinary steps, and best practices for documentation.
- Assist with EEOC documentation and position statements in partnership with senior employee relations leadership and legal teams.
- Review incoming employee relations cases, determine priority, and route or escalate higher-risk matters appropriately.
- Spot repeated employee relations patterns and share insights that help improve policies, processes, and training.
Requirements
- Between 4 and 5 years of progressive experience in HR generalist or employee relations roles, including direct workplace investigations.
- Prior support for multi-location and multi-state teams in an HR or ER capacity, preferably for at least 2 years.
- Solid knowledge of employment law concepts and regulations, including EEO, ADA, and FMLA.
- Proven ability to run structured investigations and produce objective, well-supported documentation and recommendations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and coach leaders effectively.
- Excellent organization and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple active cases in a deadline-driven environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HR systems; SHRM-CP or PHR certification is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
Benefits and compensation
- Annual base pay of $105,000 to $112,000 USD, plus eligibility for performance-based bonus programs.
- Medical, dental, vision, life, and disability coverage, with low-cost employee plan options.
- Paid time off that includes vacation, sick leave, personal days, holidays, and extra vacation accrual based on tenure.
- 401(k) retirement plan with company matching up to 6% after the eligibility period.
- Paid parental leave, along with fertility, adoption, and surrogacy reimbursement support.
- Sabbatical program that provides extended paid leave after long-term service milestones.
- Employee assistance support, wellness resources, and optional supplemental insurance choices.
