Elementary Teacher

The role

Phalen Leadership Academies is looking for a committed elementary teacher to join Davis Elementary in Montgomery, Alabama. In this role, you will help create a supportive, engaging classroom where students can build both academic strength and social skills. The position calls for a teacher who can set ambitious learning targets, keep students accountable for progress, and adjust instruction based on evidence and student needs.

What success looks like

• Every scholar reaches the expected growth target in ELA and math.
• At least 85% of students report positive classroom satisfaction.
• Ninety percent of scholars remain enrolled through the school year.
• Average daily attendance reaches 95%.
• Students who are below grade level gain 1.5 years of growth.

What you'll do

You will plan and deliver rigorous lessons, build a classroom culture rooted in care and high expectations, and use assessment results to monitor scholar progress. When students need extra support, you will intervene, pivot instruction, and reinforce mastery so they can continue moving forward.

Qualifications

• A strong commitment to working with students and families in underserved communities.
• A bachelor’s degree or above from an accredited college or university, with the required endorsements if applicable.
• A valid state teaching license, or enrollment in a credentialing program.
• Strong instructional practice grounded in standards and data-informed assessment.
• Experience using data to shape and improve instruction.

About Davis Elementary

PLA @ Davis Elementary School is located at 3605 Rosa L Parks Ave, Montgomery, AL 36105. The school became a charter school in 2021 with support from the Montgomery Education Foundation and Phalen Leadership Academies. The campus is centered on serving the local community, improving educational outcomes, and providing a safe, encouraging environment where scholars feel supported and empowered.
