Job description

Role Overview

The Electrical Power Production Section Supervisor is responsible for installing, running, and modifying electrical generating plants as well as ground and mobile power generation equipment. This role combines hands-on technical work with supervision, maintenance planning, troubleshooting, and compliance oversight.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate electrical power plants, distribution systems, and automatic transfer panels.
  • Verify that all equipment is serviceable and ready for use.
  • Place and configure generators, engines, switchgear, air compressors, and related auxiliary power equipment.
  • Update and adapt equipment in line with technical manuals while completing operating and repair work.
  • Confirm that installed systems meet publication standards, policies, and directives.
  • Inspect, test, and service supporting systems including safety, fuel, lubrication, cooling, air pressure, pumps, regulators, governors, and accessories.
  • Monitor and interpret readings from meters, gauges, recorders, and other instruments to track performance.
  • Adjust generator sets to maintain correct voltage, current, frequency, and synchronization across multiple units.
  • Switch and control high-voltage circuits, breakers, rheostats, and switchboard/distribution panel controls.
  • Carry out electrical power control and distribution duties.
  • Maintain and repair generating equipment and automatic transfer panels.
  • Perform inspections, assess findings, and decide on corrective actions.
  • Detect and document engine and generator faults.
  • Diagnose malfunctions, inspect worn parts, and use precision test tools for troubleshooting.
  • Remove, restore, and replace damaged components in power generation systems.
  • Carry out corrosion prevention and control tasks.
  • Check, replace, bench-test, repair, and calibrate gauges, meters, components, and subassemblies.
  • Review performance data and maintenance histories to judge maintenance effectiveness.
  • Analyze system data to anticipate and prevent equipment failure.
  • Provide guidance on installation and repair issues related to power production equipment.
  • Resolve maintenance challenges and support operational readiness.
  • Study layouts, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical drawings to understand system design and behavior.
  • Create and improve maintenance and operating procedures for maximum efficiency.
  • Maintain detailed records of operations, inspections, maintenance, meter readings, wear measurements, fuel use, and other performance data.
  • Prepare information for reports, recommend corrective changes, and help improve operating practices.
  • Follow environmental policies and complete other assigned duties as needed.

Education and Experience

A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Candidates should bring at least 10 years of experience in operating and maintaining engines, generators, and distribution parts of electric power production systems across different makes and models. Task certification at USAF 7-Level AAS Power Pro is required. Completion of a basic military, trade school, or union-shop electrical power production course is preferred.

Skills and Knowledge

The role requires strong organization, close attention to detail, follow-through, the ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment, and a customer-focused approach. Strong written and verbal communication is essential, along with proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Candidates should also have solid knowledge of electronics and electrical systems, including generation, conversion, transformation, distribution, utilization, low- and medium-voltage circuits, breakers, switches, fuses, regulators, relays, instruments, meters, wiring diagrams, schematics, technical publications, internal combustion engines, generators, generating plants, distribution panels, test equipment, safety procedures, environmental requirements, management principles, and repair methods for power production systems.

Additional Requirements

Applicants must hold a valid U.S. driver’s license. A valid U.S. passport is preferred. The selected candidate must be able to secure and keep a valid residency visa for Qatar. The work environment may involve dust, high heat, long shifts, weather exposure, and hazardous conditions. This position also requires 100% travel to a deployed location.
