Job description
Position Overview
The Renfrew County District School Board is looking to hire Educational Support Personnel for Valour School in Petawawa. This role is scheduled at 100% FTE, which works out to 35 hours per week.
Qualifications
Applicants should hold at least a two-year community college diploma in a social services discipline, such as DSW, CYW, or SSW, or have an equivalent mix of education and experience that the Board deems acceptable. Supporting transcripts may be requested to verify relevant coursework.
Role Expectations
Candidates must be able and prepared to carry out the core duties associated with Educational Support Personnel work. These duties include toileting, diapering, feeding, lifting, transferring, positioning, and helping students move around safely.
Preferred Training and Assets
- Training related to Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Behaviour Management Systems (BMS)
- Safe lifting training
- WHMIS certification
- Collaborative and Proactive Solutions (CPS)
- Experience with computer-based supports and adaptive or assistive technology would be considered an advantage
Hiring and Employment Conditions
Recruitment will be carried out in line with the collective agreement for Educational Support Personnel and the Board's administrative procedures. Internal members of the Board's Educational Support Personnel bargaining unit will be considered before any external applicants. The Board also retains the discretion not to appoint anyone to the position.
Employment offers will only be finalized after a current vulnerable sector screening is received, along with educational credentials that meet the District's standards.
