Role overview
Victoria World Academy is looking for an Economics Teacher to join its A-Level programme in Singapore. The position involves teaching Economics across multiple levels and supporting students academically and personally within a school environment.
What you will do
- Design, prepare, and deliver lively Economics lessons aligned with the syllabus and scheme of work.
- Teach Economics across IGCSE, A Level, and Foundation/IY1 programmes as assigned.
- Use varied teaching approaches to support students with different learning styles, strengths, and ability levels.
- Build and maintain a positive classroom atmosphere that is inclusive, well-managed, and focused on active participation and critical thinking.
- Develop, conduct, and evaluate tests, assignments, and examinations.
- Track student performance, offer prompt feedback, and step in with academic support or intervention when needed.
- Act as a mentor and/or Form Teacher, providing guidance on both academic and pastoral matters.
- Work with parents, teachers, and student support teams on student progress and wellbeing.
- Take part in curriculum planning, departmental discussions, professional development, and school-wide activities.
- Assist with assigned co-curricular programmes and any additional responsibilities set by the school.
- Meet the key performance indicators assigned to the role.
Requirements
- A master’s degree in Economics is required.
- A teaching qualification is preferred.
- At least 2 years of teaching experience, ideally in IGCSE, A Level, Foundation, or another international curriculum.
- Strong command of Economics as a subject.
- Comfortable delivering engaging lessons tailored to students from diverse backgrounds and ability levels.
- Strong classroom management, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
- Self-driven, flexible, and able to work well in a team.
