Job description
Role overview
This position calls for a seasoned e-commerce professional who can own the technical and conversion side of a Shopify store. It is a practical, problem-solving role suited to someone who has handled genuinely complex storefronts rather than simple catalogue updates.
The business operates a broad, variation-rich product range within an international Shopify setup spanning multiple markets. The successful person will dig into the store, uncover what is driving or limiting conversion, confirm what is functioning correctly, and either implement the fix or provide a developer with precise, evidence-backed guidance.
Who this role suits
This opportunity is ideal for someone who has managed Shopify builds with large catalogues, multiple currencies, several markets, and a layered combination of themes and apps. You should have real experience resolving conversion issues, interpreting analytics and session data accurately, and drawing conclusions from evidence rather than assumption. Comfort with questioning technical conclusions and handling the work yourself is important.
Key ownership areas
- Investigate conversion performance to identify drop-offs, friction points, and the reasons behind behaviour across markets, devices, and browsers.
- Oversee the technical health of the store by understanding themes, apps, tracking, and the impact of changes on performance, while verifying findings directly inside Shopify.
- Analyse user behaviour using GA4, Google Search Console, and session-recording tools such as Microsoft Clarity to build a reliable picture of customer activity.
- Work closely with the developer by reviewing outputs, asking focused questions, and issuing clear, specific instructions for technical changes.
- Handle day-to-day store operations, including merchandising, collection management, product setup, and on-site optimisation to a high standard.
Essential background
You will need proven experience on complex Shopify stores with international or multi-market structures, not only small or straightforward catalogues. A clear history of diagnosing and fixing conversion issues is important, and you should be ready to explain a concrete example during discussions.
Strong working knowledge of GA4, Google Search Console, and session replay tools is required. You should also understand how themes, apps, scripts, and tracking systems interact, and how they can influence both conversion and site speed. The role also requires sound judgement, confidence to challenge technical assumptions, and the ability to communicate instructions to a developer clearly and precisely.
Additional information
This is a contract position based onsite in the United Kingdom.
