Overview

We are seeking a committed Driving Examiner for a permanent, full-time position based in Bundaberg. This role is focused on road safety and community service, with responsibility for assessing driver competence against Queensland Government requirements.

In this position, you will carry out practical driving assessments, judge whether applicants meet the required standards, explain outcomes clearly, and encourage safer driving habits. Your work will help support safer roads and a safer community.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out practical driving tests in line with Queensland Government standards and road safety rules.
  • Evaluate driving ability, road rule understanding, and safe vehicle operation across different traffic and road conditions.
  • Give applicants clear, professional, and constructive feedback after each assessment.
  • Apply departmental policies and procedures consistently and fairly.
  • Promote awareness of road safety and help reduce incidents on Queensland roads.
  • Work cooperatively with colleagues and stakeholders to support effective service delivery.

Role requirements

  • A current and valid Queensland driver’s licence is required.
  • An HC (Heavy Combination) licence or higher, or an R (motorcycle) licence, is highly desirable.
  • You must be eligible to obtain and maintain Driving Examiner Accreditation through the Department of Transport and Main Roads.
  • You should have a clean driving record with no major infringements.
  • You need to be flexible to travel to nearby centres when needed.
