Job description
Role Summary
This position is centered on the safe, professional loading, transport, unloading, and delivery of equipment to customer locations across Indiana and nearby states.
Key Duties
- Carry out pre-trip safety inspections on trucks and related equipment.
- Coordinate with dispatch for delivery and pickup routes and assignments.
- Deliver equipment to customer sites in a courteous and professional manner.
- Move equipment for both delivery and retrieval while maintaining safety and timeliness.
- Inspect fuel levels, fluid levels, and overall equipment condition before loading.
- Complete rental contracts, pickup records, and damage reports accurately, legibly, and with the required signatures.
- Show customers the correct and safe use of equipment when it is delivered.
- Inform the shop lead or service manager, as well as the sales coordinator, if any equipment is damaged.
- Contact the sales coordinator after every completed delivery.
- Keep service vehicles and shop equipment clean, professional-looking, and serviced at least every 90 days or sooner if needed.
- Record fuel use on the mileage report and fuel log.
- Store equipment and vehicles properly when not in use to avoid damage to company property.
- Handle additional assignments or special projects from the store manager within the required time frame.
Qualifications
The role calls for knowledge and abilities typically gained through high school education along with some technical training. Candidates must hold a Class A CDL and have at least 2 years of experience hauling and driving a tractor-trailer. Familiarity with the local delivery area is useful, along with the ability to read city and regional maps. Strong written, verbal, and listening communication skills are needed, as well as solid customer service capabilities. Product knowledge is preferred.
