Job description

The Opportunity

Ventia is seeking an enthusiastic Drilling Offsider to join its operations team at Olympic Dam. The work follows a 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off roster as the standard arrangement, although the roster can extend when operational requirements demand extra coverage. While on duty, you will be provided with return travel from Adelaide to Roxby Downs, along with accommodation and meals.

This is a strong opportunity for someone looking to develop a long-term career with a major infrastructure services organisation. The role offers exposure to demanding projects, practical learning, and the chance to progress within the business.

If you have an interest in drilling and mining work, along with a dependable attitude and solid work ethic, this could be a great fit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Help with drilling rig activities such as handling machinery, relocating rigs, and setting up equipment so drilling work runs efficiently.
  • Operate plant, machinery, and vehicles safely, complete pre-start inspections, and support the secure movement of equipment to and from site.
  • Follow all site safety rules, use the required personal protective equipment, and take part in toolbox discussions.
  • Assist with loading and unloading trucks, maintaining safe load balance, properly securing freight, and using forklifts in a safe manner.
  • Carry out support tasks for equipment upkeep, including sharpening drill bits and helping maintain machinery performance.

About You

  • You must hold a current HR driver’s licence; synchro or unrestricted is preferred.
  • Additional qualifications such as First Aid, Forklift, Front End Loader, Working at Heights, and a Certificate II in Drilling Operations are viewed favourably.
  • Experience in labouring or as an offsider, plus a good mechanical understanding, will be an advantage.
  • You should have a strong safety mindset and prior experience working within safety procedures.
  • The role requires physical fitness and comfort with hands-on, demanding work.
  • You need to be dependable, punctual, and able to work well as part of a team.
  • You must be willing to complete pre-employment screening, which may include a medical assessment, drug and alcohol testing, a police check, and reference checks.
