Job description
About the role
Boots UK is looking for a Dispenser to join the pharmacy team in store at North Shields, England, United Kingdom. In this role, you will support the pharmacist and other healthcare colleagues to help deliver pharmacy and healthcare services safely and efficiently.
You’ll spend your time in the healthcare area of the store, building trusted relationships with patients, understanding their needs, welcoming customers, dispensing prescriptions, and making sure medicines are supplied safely. You will also use your healthcare knowledge to guide patients so they can make informed choices about their health and wellbeing.
The hourly pay for this position is £13.92, rising to up to £16.64 in selected London locations.
Important location and eligibility notes
This is an in-store role based in the UK, so remote working is not available. Applications from candidates outside the UK will only be considered if they can provide relevant UK qualifications and proof of the right to work in the UK. This position is not eligible for Skilled Worker Visa sponsorship.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and dispense prescriptions while helping ensure medicines are supplied safely, including ordering, labelling, endorsing, and handing out prescriptions.
- Work alongside other healthcare professionals in the store to support the delivery and day-to-day management of pharmacy services.
- Offer patients guidance on medicines and refer any more complex questions to the pharmacist when needed.
- Follow standard operating procedures to support the safe and lawful dispensing of prescriptions.
- Stay current with new in-store innovations and follow operational processes accurately.
- Help patients manage repeat prescriptions in a reliable way, supporting better adherence and reducing medicine waste.
Development and working style
You will work with changing technologies and new store systems that are designed to improve dispensing processes, strengthen patient safety, and free up more time to spend with patients. Regular updates and training will help you build your healthcare knowledge, and there are career development routes such as training to become a Pharmacy Technician or progressing into the store leadership team.
Requirements
- You should have completed the Pharmacy Advisor qualification at NVQ2 level, or an equivalent qualification, or be working toward it and have completed the first year of an MPharm degree.
- You must have current and valid UK right to work.
Desirable experience
- Experience working in a community pharmacy would be an advantage.
Benefits
- Discretionary Christmas gift payment.
- Staff discount.
- Enhanced maternity, paternity, and adoption leave pay, plus a gift card for anyone expecting or adopting a child.
