What You Will Do
The main focus of the job is to keep dishware, cookware, and kitchen tools clean, dry, and properly stored. You will also help keep the kitchen, dining space, and support areas clean and ready for service throughout the day.
- Collect used prep tubs, pans, utensils, and other kitchen items, then wash and store them correctly.
- Get dining and kitchen areas ready for the next shift by cleaning and replenishing stations.
- Clean kitchen equipment and appliances such as ovens, makeline equipment, and cut tables.
- Keep the dish area neat, organized, and safe.
- Help receive, unload, and store deliveries.
- Sweep and mop floors, especially when spills happen.
- Remove trash and rinse out garbage bins.
- Support other restaurant tasks whenever help is needed.
- Report accidents in the kitchen or any food-safety violations.
- Prepare the dining area for opening, closing, and regular operating hours.
- Set up the kitchen line before busy periods and restore it at closing for the next day.
What We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate should be a reliable team player with strong communication and time-management skills. You should be able to stay organized, prioritize tasks in a fast-moving setting, and follow food safety rules carefully.
- Some work experience is helpful, but not required.
- Good problem-solving and communication abilities.
- Strong time management and prioritization skills.
- Ability to remain standing or walking for 8 to 10 hour shifts.
- Must be able to lift at least 30 pounds.
- Take pride in doing quality work.
- Willing to follow all food safety procedures.
- Texas Certified Food Handlers Certificate is required.
Education and Training
A high school diploma or an equivalent qualification is an advantage, but it is not mandatory. Previous experience is not needed, since job-specific training will be provided. Training covers employer systems, cleaning chemicals, and washing procedures. A positive attitude and clear communication are essential.
Work Environment
This role involves handling a high volume of dishes and cookware. Sharp items must be washed and stored safely. The kitchen can be warm, busy, and noisy. The dish area may be wet and slippery, and the restaurant environment includes conveyor belt ovens, warming shelves, and rolling carts, so awareness and care are important.
