Job description
About Juno Veterinary
Juno Veterinary is dedicated to providing comprehensive support for both pets and their human team members, aiming to set a new benchmark for care within the veterinary industry across Canada. We are an innovative company merging consumer-tech and veterinary medicine to redefine the experience for consumers and providers. We are seeking a visionary leader to join our growing team and help shape the future of veterinary medicine. If you are passionate about building a meaningful organization and making a positive impact, Juno is the place for you.
The Role
Talent acquisition is a critical growth driver at Juno. As we expand into new markets, we need a Director of Talent Acquisition to lead the charge in attracting and onboarding top veterinary professionals. This is a strategic leadership opportunity for someone eager to build an exceptional recruitment function. The role reports to the Head of People and collaborates across departments, including clinic operations and medical leadership, to ensure a robust talent pipeline.
What You'll Do
- Oversee the entire recruitment lifecycle for Juno's clinical staff, including veterinarians (DVMs), registered veterinary technicians (RVT s), veterinary technicians (MECs), animal care attendants (ACAs), and practice managers, across all current and future clinic locations.
- Develop and implement a forward-thinking talent strategy, anticipating hiring needs 6-12 months in advance, aligned with Juno's expansion plans.
- Engage directly with veterinary clinics to foster relationships and build a strong pipeline, particularly for veterinarians.
- Create and maintain an outstanding candidate experience from initial contact through onboarding, ensuring it reflects the Juno brand and stands out in the market.
- Act as a thought leader in talent acquisition, introducing innovative approaches to sourcing, employer branding, and candidate engagement to position Juno as an employer of choice in Canadian veterinary medicine.
- Manage and optimize Juno's Applicant Tracking System (ATS), Greenhouse, ensuring data accuracy, pipeline integrity, and enabling informed hiring decisions.
- Utilize AI tools, such as Claude, to enhance sourcing efficiency, improve outreach effectiveness, and reduce hiring timelines without compromising candidate quality.
- Collaborate closely with the Head of People, clinic operations leaders, and medical directors to align recruitment efforts with business objectives and staffing timelines.
- Lead the offer process for DVM and senior clinical positions, delivering offers with precision, clarity, and a thorough understanding of total compensation.
- Cultivate and manage relationships with external stakeholders, including veterinary schools, professional organizations (e.g., OVMA, OAVT), and other recruitment channels.
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of employment agreements, offer letters, and related HR documentation in partnership with the People team.
- Contribute content to Juno's recruitment newsletter, LinkedIn presence, and other employer branding initiatives to maintain Juno's visibility and appeal.
- Monitor and report on key recruitment metrics, such as time-to-fill, pipeline health, candidate satisfaction (NPS), and regrettable turnover in clinical roles, using data to drive continuous improvement.
What You'll Bring
- A minimum of 5 years of progressive recruitment experience, with a strong preference for backgrounds in veterinary medicine, healthcare, or specialized frontline service industries.
- Proven experience in leading and building recruitment functions or teams.
- Experience with multi-unit or multi-location recruitment, particularly with frontline service teams.
- Exceptional cross-functional collaboration skills, with a demonstrated ability to build trust with operations, finance, and clinical leadership.
- Advanced proficiency with ATS platforms, with a preference for Greenhouse, and a keen interest in leveraging technology for recruitment efficiency.
- Familiarity with or a strong interest in AI recruitment tools (e.g., Claude, Juicebox, Workable, Metaview).
- Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities, capable of delivering executive presentations and crafting effective outreach messages.
- A candidate-centric approach, understanding that candidate treatment is a reflection of company values.
- Ability to work within Eastern Standard Time and engage with candidates and stakeholders across Canadian time zones.
- Adaptability and a proactive mindset for working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
Compensation and Benefits
Juno Veterinary is committed to transparent and competitive compensation. This role offers a base salary range of $130,000 to $165,000 annually, plus a bonus potential starting at 10% of base salary. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and demonstrated expertise. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including mental health support, continuing education, and mentorship. Employees also receive generous paid time off, discounted veterinary services for their pets, and the opportunity for significant strategic impact in a high-ownership role. Flexible remote work is available across Canada, with hybrid options in Toronto.
Interview Process
The interview process includes a video screen with the People team, followed by interviews with the Head of People, Clinic Operations Lead, National Medical Director, SVP of Care, and co-founders/CEOs. The final stage involves a presentation to the Head of People on building the talent function for growth, concluding with an offer discussion.
Equal Employment Opportunity
Juno Veterinary is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion. We welcome applications from all qualified individuals regardless of race, ethnicity, citizenship, creed, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, family status, marital status, disability, age, or any other protected characteristic.
