Position overview
The Director of Strategic Procurement, Americas will own the regional vendor partnership strategy for Choice Logistics across the Americas. This leader will help broaden market presence, strengthen service delivery, and support long-term business growth by managing strategic relationships end to end. The role covers the full partnership journey, from identifying and sourcing partners to evaluating, negotiating, and onboarding them. It also includes shaping contract negotiation approaches that balance risk control, compliance, and value creation. This position partners closely with stakeholders across the organization.
Key responsibilities
- Guide the Americas sourcing team in building and executing partner strategies across warehousing, transportation, and global trade services to improve cost performance, service quality, and operational fit.
- Manage the complete partner lifecycle, including NDA handling, sourcing, operational qualification, pricing, contract discussions, and service launch.
- Set and carry out contract negotiation approaches with strong attention to risk reduction, compliance, operational efficiency, and business value.
- Review partner performance data and market conditions to deliver insights that strengthen the logistics network for the company and its clients.
- Work with the Operations team to track partner KPIs and drive ongoing improvements in partner performance.
- Build effective communication and collaboration with internal teams and external partners.
- Stay current on market movements, competitors, and new opportunities.
- Improve current processes to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
- Support team growth by helping employees build skills and advance professionally.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent background is required; a master’s degree is preferred.
- Demonstrated success in sourcing, negotiating, and delivering strong partnerships.
- Background in fast-moving, growth-focused business environments.
- Comfort handling complex, high-pressure situations with integrity.
- Experience in strategic planning, execution, and creating both qualitative and quantitative business cases.
- Ability to work well in uncertain or ambiguous business settings.
- Strong meeting facilitation skills, with the ability to motivate teams, produce high-quality work under tight deadlines, and manage multiple projects at once.
- Forward-looking, self-driven, and adaptable leadership style that connects strategy, performance, and risk management to measurable financial improvement.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time.
