About the Agency

BGB Group is a healthcare communications agency that supports biopharmaceutical clients with a broad mix of services, including pharmaceutical advertising, promotional medical education, payer marketing, and consulting. The organization positions itself as a strategic and creative partner focused on strengthening category and brand awareness as well as business growth.

Role Overview

The Director, Project Management will act as the internal portfolio owner for a designated book of business. This person will bring both strategy and execution to the role, working closely with Account teams to maintain realistic work plans, set priorities, and keep the portfolio running efficiently and profitably.

This leader is accountable for delivering high-quality work that supports client satisfaction, advances business goals, and balances the financial interests of both the client and the agency. The role also involves leading and coaching a multi-disciplinary Project Management team while driving better operational performance across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work in close partnership with Account and Marketing teams to communicate clearly, proactively, and consistently with clients while helping manage expectations.
  • Assess projects within the assigned accounts to determine staffing, skill, and resource needs, and align assignments accordingly.
  • Coordinate with Resource Management and Functional Department Leads to handle shifting resource demand across the portfolio.
  • Lead status meetings and organize cross-functional post-project reviews to support ongoing improvement.
  • Create and maintain risk reduction plans for large, complex assignments.
  • Serve as a trusted partner to capability leaders to refine workflows and improve efficiency.
  • Prioritize work in progress with Functional Leads and Account teams to reduce bottlenecks and keep work moving.
  • Manage portfolio budgets and escalate revenue changes or financial risks to senior leaders.
  • Act as the main escalation contact for vendor-related issues and production challenges.
  • Remove obstacles that could affect delivery and ensure projects stay on schedule.
  • Oversee workload balance across the portfolio and help resolve complex production conversations with clients.
  • Partner with Account teams in discussions about schedules, production constraints, and project compromises.
  • Work with Resourcing to shift client priorities across the portfolio as business needs change.
  • Scope and estimate complex integrated, multi-channel work and review estimates before they go to the client.
  • Monitor workloads, billing, actuals, utilization, and staffing plans to identify ways to improve efficiency.
  • Promote organization, information sharing, and alignment across departments and Account teams.
  • Coach, supervise, and develop Project Management team members to improve performance, productivity, and operational standards.

Qualifications

  • At least 8 years of project management experience, ideally in healthcare advertising, pharmaceutical, medical communications, or an agency setting.
  • Background leading large, integrated, multi-channel programs or portfolios.
  • Proven success in managing and developing strong project management teams.
  • Solid knowledge of agency operations, workflow management, resourcing, forecasting, and financial tracking.
  • Strong capability in scoping, estimating, budgeting, and portfolio oversight.
  • Ability to manage complex client relationships and guide discussions on timing, production constraints, and commercial tradeoffs.
  • Excellent organization, communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience balancing multiple priorities and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfort working cross-functionally with Account, Creative, Strategy, Production, and Functional Department Leads.
  • Ability to use project management and resource management systems and tools effectively.
  • A bachelor’s degree or comparable professional experience is preferred.

Compensation

The stated salary range for this role is CAD 170,000 to CAD 190,000. Final compensation will depend on factors such as relevant experience, education, training, demonstrated qualifications, and organizational requirements. Salary is only one part of the overall rewards package.
