The Role

AI71 is hiring a Director, Applied AI to lead high-impact initiatives within its AI software and solutions consulting practice. This position is responsible for shaping and delivering AI strategies and implementations for clients across multiple industries. It blends strategic leadership with technical direction to guide the company's AI program management and delivery services. The right candidate will bring a strong consulting background together with deep expertise in AI and data.

Key Responsibilities

• Take full ownership of delivery for the AI Engagement Practice and ensure projects are executed effectively to meet client business goals.
• Develop a clear understanding of each client’s challenges and priorities, and act as a trusted advisor in creating AI-enabled solutions.
• Organize and direct the analysis of complex datasets to generate insights that inform AI roadmaps, operating models, and technology choices.
• Coordinate multi-disciplinary teams, including data engineers, AI/ML specialists, business analysts, and client stakeholders, to deliver work on time, within scope, and on budget.
• Develop strong relationships with client decision-makers and executive sponsors to align expectations and secure support.
• Work closely with technical teams to ensure AI solutions are built for scalability, security, and ethical use.
• Create strategy documents, implementation plans, and presentations that communicate recommendations clearly to senior leadership.
• Coach and develop team members to strengthen their consulting, AI, and leadership skills.
• Identify delivery and implementation risks early and put mitigation plans in place.
• Encourage an environment of innovation, learning, and knowledge sharing across consulting teams.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of management or strategy consulting experience, including work as an Engagement Manager, Project Leader, or a similar role at a top-tier consulting firm.
• Bachelor's or Master’s degree from a highly regarded university; an MBA or other postgraduate degree is an added advantage.
• Prior exposure to AI/ML, data science, cloud, or software development lifecycles is preferred.
• Ability to structure and solve unclear, data-heavy business problems.
• Genuine interest in how AI can create significant business impact.
• Excellent communication and executive presentation skills, with the ability to explain technical topics in simple terms.
• Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
• Proven project management experience leading cross-functional and global teams.
• Willingness to travel as needed for client assignments.
