Job description
Role overview
Meadow Mushrooms, New Zealand’s largest fresh mushroom producer, is looking for a Digital Specialist to help shape and deliver its digital direction. This is a varied position that combines technology, business improvement, and stakeholder engagement across a family-owned organisation with a long growth story.
Working from the Christchurch head office, you will partner closely with the CFO and wider teams to support the planning and execution of digital initiatives for both customer-facing and internal use. The role also includes helping assess older systems, contributing to future technology plans, building business cases, and supporting transformation work.
This opportunity is permanent and full time, and suits someone who enjoys blending hands-on systems work with influence, process improvement, discovery, and project delivery.
About the business
Founded in 1970, Meadow Mushrooms has grown into one of New Zealand’s standout entrepreneurial success stories. The company produces around 9 million mushrooms each week and is recognised both locally and internationally as a strong name in fresh produce and the mushroom industry.
Key focus areas
- Support the development and rollout of Meadow Mushrooms’ digital strategy
- Work with the CFO and business teams to prioritise and deliver digital initiatives in a coordinated way
- Strengthen digital capability, user experience, and adoption across the organisation
- Spot opportunities and capability gaps that can benefit from digital solutions
- Promote AI adoption, automation, and strong data governance practices
- Coordinate with external consultants and support providers on desktop support, networking, firewall administration, and on-premise and cloud applications
- Help build a security-conscious culture across the company
- Provide technology and business application support, as well as training for users when needed
What you’ll bring
You’ll need a solid balance of people skills and technical capability, along with at least 5 years’ experience in an enterprise business application setting. Experience reviewing processes, gathering and analysing requirements, implementing systems, and supporting business applications is essential.
Strong experience with Microsoft 365 is required, including the ability to build and manage Power App workflows and support ongoing development within a modern workplace environment built around SharePoint, PowerApps, and O365. You should also be a confident communicator with strong spoken and written English, able to connect quickly with others and explain not just the task, but the purpose and value behind it.
Additional capability areas
- Working knowledge of enterprise systems such as ERP, CRM, EDI, and Business Intelligence tools
- Hands-on involvement in application rollout projects, including process review, requirements gathering, solution design, and deployment
- Confidence across Microsoft cloud tools such as OneDrive, Office 365, Teams, and SharePoint
- Strong understanding of networks and cloud computing
- Experience training and assisting end users
- Ability to influence decision-makers and build trusted relationships across the business
- Willingness to learn how the wider business operates and adapt accordingly
- Comfort with questioning existing processes constructively and helping resolve issues
