Western Sydney Local Health District is looking for a temporary part-time Dietitian Assistant to support nutrition care at Westmead Hospital, one of Australia’s leading tertiary healthcare sites. What the role involves
As a Dietitian Assistant, you will assist Clinical Dietitians in delivering effective nutrition care to hospital patients. Your work will include identifying patients at nutrition risk, supporting meal and nutrition interventions, sharing basic nutrition guidance, and keeping documentation accurate and up to date.
- Screen patients for nutrition risk and refer at-risk patients to Clinical Dietitians
- Assist with meal observation, menu selection support and nutrition intervention follow-through
- Provide straightforward nutrition education in line with departmental procedures
- Keep patient notes, care plans, statistics and meal service records accurate
- Take part in quality improvement, education, research and professional development activities

Essential qualification
A nutrition-related qualification is required, such as Certificate III in Health Service Assistance (Nutrition and Dietetics), Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance (Nutrition Stream), or a relevant university qualification in nutrition.
Selection criteria
- Understanding of how to provide clinical support to a Clinical Dietitian
- Knowledge of therapeutic diets and their application in hospital care
- Experience using the CBORD Diet Office program and understanding its role in hospital nutrition services
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Willingness and ability to work a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays
