Job description

Role overview

An opportunity is available for an energetic and committed Diagnostic Radiographer to join a multidisciplinary radiology team within NHS Grampian. The main base is a very busy elective orthopaedic hospital, alongside services for older adults and rehabilitation inpatients. Most of the work will be carried out in this setting, with occasional rota coverage across other NHS locations when needed.

Department and equipment

The radiology service uses a mix of digital radiography and computed radiography systems, supported by PACS and RIS. The role includes carrying out a full range of general imaging examinations, including theatre work and fluoroscopy.

Professional development

The department actively supports continuing professional development, as well as audit and research activity.

Location note

Aberdeen is described as a lively, international city with strong air, rail, and sea connections to the rest of the UK and overseas.

Interview and application notes

Interviews are scheduled for 28 July 2026. Applicants should submit their form through Jobtrain and should not upload a CV, as it will not be used for shortlisting. Applications may close at midnight on the stated closing date, and the vacancy may close earlier if a large number of applications are received. After submission, changes cannot be made to the application.

Correspondence will be sent by email, so the email address entered must be accurate. Applicants should also check their email account regularly, including junk folders, and review their Jobtrain account for updates. Some posts are reserved for internal candidates only; staff should ensure their Jobtrain profile shows employment with NHS Grampian where relevant.

Accessibility and support

NHS Scotland aims to build a workforce that reflects the diversity of society and to ensure every employee feels respected and able to contribute fully. As a disability confident employer, inclusive and accessible recruitment is a priority. If adjustments are needed during recruitment, candidates should contact the team as early as possible. Shortlisted candidates will normally attend interview in person, although alternative arrangements may be considered where in-person attendance is not possible.

Additional candidate information

AI-generated wording in supporting statements may be too generic and may miss the key criteria in the job description, so responses should be tailored to the role and to the candidate’s own experience, knowledge, and achievements.

Applicants should ensure the address on the application form matches their current residence for their present workplace, and that identification confirms that address. For technical issues with the application system, support is available through the candidate support hub. It is recommended to use Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge when accessing the recruitment system.

If the post falls within Aberdeen City Low Emission Zone, the successful applicant will be responsible for any associated entry costs.
